August 2012

The beginning of August was a little slower, which was nice. Here are a few things:
I hope it's ok that I stole this picture and the photographer doesn't come find me...but I had to get a picture of her cute face!
Umm, can I PLEASE look this good after having a baby? We married brothers, so I should inherit that, right?

Jen had little baby Taylee Mae Wells August 3rd at 7:50 PM, 8 lbs 20 inches. I can’t believe those cheeks….and now coming up on a year later they are still huge! So cute. Got to meet her at the end of August. So fun for them!
We got a parsley and something (some other herb) plant from our friends. I was attempting to be a crafty, thoughtful wife and made little Easter things for some of Kase’s coworkers. I accidentally made the “craft” (candy wrapped in tissue paper and tied with some pipe cleaner) look like a bunny….guess I got lucky that time. So Cyndi Henning was so sweet and gave me a plant to say thanks. Who says thanks for an Easter craft? And with a plant? She is so cute, and her & Ron are always so generous. They’ve had us over for dinner a number of times with their own kids Nate & wife Amber who are our age. Kase was stoked about this plant.
He had been talking lately to Dax and hearing all about their garden and how awesome it was. He loved it. When he would get sad that we live in an apartment in Flagstaff and can’t do something like that, I would just try to remind him we aren’t in that stage of life. Didn’t really work. But anyway, he was so happy when I made something from our little plant. Made him feel like we were self-reliant, I guess.

Kase's excitement won me over for a picture I was not properly groomed to take :)
Our little plant after we stripped it of what it had worked hard all summer to produce. If only a green tree weren't in the background.

I made pesto. It was….not good. I tried the low fat recipe. Ya. Exactly. Bad idea. So much for trying to be healthy. Kase thought it was great, but I think only because A) he doesn’t really know what pesto tastes like and B) he was just so happy it was grown and homemade by us, that he didn’t care what it taste like. Honestly, he was ALL SMILES the whole time I was doing the whole procedure. He even pitched in. I was glad he enjoyed it, but I didn’t get any seconds…

Then he wanted me to take a picture of the finished "gourmet meal" in all it's glory. Homemade from the garden meal + hunger = no energy. Therefore, you can see the meal in all it's plainness. It made me happy that Kase was so happy :)

Sometime that month we went for a temple trip to Mesa and spent part of Saturday in Tucson with Kase’s grandma who lives with Kase’s cousin, Kenton, girlfriend Tina, and son Leo. We really enjoyed visiting them. I met Kenton at Grandpa Webb’s funeral but it was really quick. It’s nice to have some of Kase’s family close too, and to get some exposure to Papa Wells’ side of the family.
