Shooting

Should we call it shooting, or learning self defense? Probably just shooting, considering we don't own any guns. Kase and I got into the dentist here, one that Kase knows from back home. He got to talking to the hygenist (also in our ward) about self preparedness and self sufficiency and she told Kase a story that changed her husbands (and her) life.

He worked for the military and when Hurricane Katrina hit, he was called down there to work and protect veterinarians who were constantly being bombarded by people for drugs. He said his experience was eye-opening. People act like animals when they are put in disastrous situations where they feel helpless. People were going to the vet for drugs - how crazy is that? Anyway, his philosophy is that the people with the guns always win. Good point.

We don't yet have a gun (that is one of the next things on our list, I guess...), and so we made a deal with our other friends who have guns (the Algers) that if something bad happens, bring their guns to our place. We can feed them and they can protect us and the food :) Not sure how great of a plan that is, but I guess it's a plan.

Anyway, Roxann (the dental hygenist) & her husband Brayden invited us to go shooting with them. They go all out with painting stuff orange, bringing a big metal target he made, outline of a human with special paper put on the chest, and all the works. He has a lot of different guns, all very fun to shoot with.
And using this gun (which is ridiculously exact) I hit this from 100 yards away :) Don't worry Kase - I'll protect our family!
We had an awesome time, thanks to the Smiths! And are working on feeling more prepared when the end of the world comes one day. I hope guns never become illegal. Guns don't kill people - people kill people. We all need some type of protection!
